Please join me for a weekend of learning, laughing and socializing at the beautiful Hilton Garden Inn Uniontown. The dates for this session are November 6 through November 9, 2025. Check in will begin on Thursday, November 6 at 4PM. Check out will be Sunday, November 9 before 11AM.

When not in class, take advantage of the indoor pool and hot tub, explore the shops in town, go for a drive in the beautiful Laurel Highlands, or just pick a cozy spot in the hotel and knit by the fireplace.

Our featured professor for this session will be Safiyyah Talley (aka Drunk Knitter). She's the host of the True Crime & Knit podcast, author and pattern designer. She'll be guiding you through (3) three-hour class sessions:

Sweater Hacks
There’s nothing worse than finishing a sweater and not liking the fit. And I’m sure a lot of us have been there! In this class I created several tried and true sweater hacks that you can plug into any sweater pattern. Though these no fuss techniques require little math and time, they make a huge difference in sweater fit.
 - No materials are required for this class.

The Cowlette Class: A Quick and Easy Knit for Everyone
Let me introduce you to my latest obsession, cowlettes!  Cowlettes are shawlettes that are knit in the round to create a unique accessory that can be worn and enjoyed by everyone.  In the winter time, they can be used as a warm layer, or you can knit a lighter version to be draped over a summer outfit. In this class, we will cover how to knit and customize our own cowlette using my handy dandy Cowlette Workbook.  If desired, you can even cast on in class!
Students should bring the following materials to class:
 - One Cowlette kit - these will be available for purchase at the retreat with a copy of the pattern Safiyyah is designing for the event!
 - US 6 circular needle in 16" & 24" lengths
 - Four Stitch Markers

Knit 2 Socks in 1
Knit 2 Socks in 1 is a two at the time sock method in which you knit one long sock that you could then cut in half to create two socks.  What makes this method foolproof is that lifelines (lengths of scrap yarn used to hold stitches in place) are inserted as you knit, allowing you to cut into your knitting with confidence.  The socks are finished off with a peasant heel, which is an afterthought heel that uses lifelines to simplify the process.  The peasant heel also doubles as the toe! The combination of these techniques creates an approachable way to knit two socks at a time!
Students should bring the following materials to class:
 - One 100g skein of yarn in your desired weight.  Choose the weight that you are most  familiar with working with.
 - Needles for working small circumferences such as 9" circulars, double pointed needles, flexi flips, or a long circular needle for magic loop. If using sock yarn, use the ball band as a guide for choosing your needle size.  For all thicker weights, choose a needle size that is one to two whole US sizes smaller than what the ball band suggests.
 - Removable stitch marker
 - Scrap yarn for holding stitches
 - Tapestry Needle
 - Snips

APPLICATION FOR ENROLLMENT
Can I participate in the retreat and not stay at your venue?
No. We ask that all participants stay at the venue for the duration of the retreat. It's impossible to enjoy the retreat experience without full participation.

Refund and cancellation policy:
We recognize that everyone has health or family emergencies and may have to cancel their participation for the retreat. But the new reality in the hospitality industry is that most retreat venues and hotels require a firm rooming list and full payment for all rooms and meals prior to an event for meal planning and staff scheduling. If you cancel before August 4, 2025, and you paid in full, you will receive a full refund minus the $250 booking fee. No refund will be given after September 4, 2025 unless your space can be filled. If your space can be filled, then you will receive a full refund minus the $250 booking fee.

Retreat COVID-19 Policy
To ensure the health, safety and comfort of our retreaters, we ask that retreat attendees not attend if they feel sick and strongly recommend testing for COVID-19 one day prior to traveling. We will have some masks on hand, but ask that attendees bring their own well-fitting surgical, KN95 or N95 masks if they prefer to wear one when in close proximity to others.

Please note that these recommendations may be subject to change based on local/national regulations or recommendations at the time of the event.
